Why couldn’t they use synthetic skin grafts on your forearm?

That’s… actually a really good question, Anon! One I have to admit I don’t know the answer to. I’m going to assume the folks with medical degrees know more about why the patch that was taken from my arm would do better with the top layer of my own leg skin than it would a synthetic graft. For one thing, if it’s my own skin, I know the graft would have a much lower rejection rate, compared to if they tried covering it with foreign material.

I’d imagine synthetic skin grafts take easier when it’s only the top layer missing, like on my leg, as opposed to the full layers of skin taken from my arm.

Next time I’m on the phone with Dr. Crane’s office, I’ll be sure to ask somebody there if they have a better answer to this!
