Good news!! FINALLY some good news.

I didn’t even need a cystoscopy today, like was planned. Dr. Elliott went in with dilation tools, as seen here– which I want to assure everyone, was COMPLETELY painless, by the way!– and tried going down Spot’s urethra as far as he could ahead of time, to check for scarring.

He found no blockage. NONE. The mouth skin graft to make a new urethra back in June took 100%!! This is *fantastic* news!

I still need to chill a few months to make absolutely, *positively* sure the scarring isn’t coming back again, but my final surgery is already scheduled for December 16th, where they’ll sew shut my current urinary hole under the penis base and redirect Spot’s new urethra for good, after which I can get back to standing while peeing again.

Can’t wait~!

MY UROLOGIST FINALLY CALLED BACK, YAAAAASSSS

Turns out Dr. Elliott *wasn’t* dragging his feet the whole 2 ½ months I was waiting to hear back from him; he was deliberating. I’d been told I had two options to get rid of my scar tissue problems: daily sounding (or to be more medically precise, “manual dilation”) I’d be doing by myself, or a surgery in 2 steps, 6 months apart.

As it happens, he apologized for first saying I had two options when, after conferring with Dr. Crane, he said the manual dilation option would’ve been a horrible idea. With as severe as my scarring’s been, I’d only have to mess up the routine *once* from simple inexperience, and I could wreck Spot completely. This was *not* the kind of thing he wanted to be hanging over my head for all time.

The prep surgery, however, has already been set up for this coming Friday the 13th. (That’s probably fine.) So… score!

Just so everybody’s on the same page:

I don’t know when it’ll start showing up, but there’s going to be a lot of sounding photos on this blog as I document my stricture treatment soon. If you’re not cool with that, no harm no foul, but you might want to unfollow me now if you’re squicked by that.

And just to reiterate: this is NOT what usually comes along with a phalloplasty. I really REALLY don’t want to shy anyone away from the procedure just because *my* immune system *in particular* doesn’t know how to handle new tissue. I’m just documenting my own experience, good and bad, however rare it might be.

You never forget your first sounding.

Mine came at my appointment with my surgeon today, and was… surprisingly painless! I know, right? I was all set to hear horror movie noises come out of my mouth, and nope– he already had the length of it lubed up and pressed down through my dong without me feeling anything more than a mild tightening at the base.

Bad news is, the sounding treatment didn’t unblock the scar tissue that’s in the way of my urine stream, so I have emergency surgery scheduled for Thursday in the early afternoon. My surgeon’s going up my urethra with a tiny camera and a wire, so he can scrape away the blockage where he finds it.
